Counselling

Coming to counselling is an act of courage that I honour and respect. Ultimately the purpose of counselling is to create positive change in one's life and relationships.

I like to take a collaborative approach to change, combining my experience and training with your perspective to explore the most effective direction for you. It is important to take a holistic approach to each individual, taking into consideration physical, spiritual, mental and relational well being.

Some of the goals clients might wish to work through in therapy include the following.

For individuals

  • Anxiety/depression
  • Past trauma
  • Current relationship issues
  • Work or home stress

Couples

  • Conflict
  • Pre-marital Counselling
  • Life-style changes
  • ADHD within the marriage

Children and Family

  • Attachment disruption
  • Family conflict including divorce and/or separation
  • School challenges
  • ADHD/FASD/Learning Disabilities (I do not provide assessments, but can help with related challenges)
  • Anxiety/depression

Counselling and/or psychotherapy is provided under the supervision of Dr. J. Robert Groves, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist (CPO Certificate # 805) with over 40 years of experience in diagnosis, treatment and supervision of psychological services.

Supervision under Dr. Groves is intended to assist the counsellor/therapist in her professional development and in providing competent and professional psychological services. It may also permit clients to claim insurance reimbursement for counselling or psychotherapy sessions, if allowed under their insurance plans. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure they are covered under their plan.
